This year, for fun, we will again have a Chapter mileage contest. Special thanks to Rich Flay and Michael Kuttner for creating the spreadsheet. Whether you only have an opportunity to ride 1,500 or 15,000 miles, I would encourage everyone to consider participating — there will be some fun prizes and cash awards presented at the end of our year (for high and low miles). Here are some very general, initial guidelines — and we can discuss these more at our next Chapter meeting in February.
• Only STAR miles incurred this year will be counted — i.e. personal riding vacations / roundtrip work commute miles will not be counted. Pre-rides, mileage accrued while participating on a Chapter ride, riding (driving) to a Chapter meeting, riding with other Chapters / Rallys, etc. will be counted.
• Mileage is roundtrip from your home.
• There will be different categories — meaning an award for those on the ride team, the general membership, and other awards — tee hee.
• Everyone who chooses to participate, will be a winner — just reply to this e-mail if you wish to participate, so that I am aware — and/or keep track — of all who are interested.
• You will be responsible for tracking your own STAR miles — I will be asking for this information in November.
• Passengers are eligible and encouraged to participate — there will be a passenger award category as well.
• Those who participated on the Polar Bear ride — estimated mileage (from my house as an example) is 310 miles; those who participated on our Chapter ride after the Jan. meeting, estimated mileage (from my house) is 117 miles — if anyone needs assistance with your miles on these two rides, let me know.
